The Hyper Canvas (HQ-GM2) was a step up from the standard Roland Sound Canvas. It featured 128 MB of high-quality wave memory, offering 256 sounds and 9 drum sets. Unlike the thin, "plastic" sounds of many early MIDI modules, the Hyper Canvas offered lush pads, realistic acoustic guitars, and punchy drums that still hold up for lo-fi and retro-pop productions. Roland has retired the Edirol brand permanently. They will not revive a 20-year-old product when they already sell Roland Cloud subscriptions that include the Zenology sound engine, which contains Sound Canvas presets.
