In the ecosystem, megacmd provides a command mega-cp (or mcp ) to copy files/folders between local storage and Mega cloud storage, or between two Mega remote locations. In standard Linux, cp copies files locally. When files are “mega” (very large), both commands face unique challenges.
If source/ and dest/ are on the modern filesystem (btrfs, XFS, ZFS), use reflinks: mega cp files
If the destination path you provide already exists and is a folder, MEGA will simply place a duplicate of your source file inside it. mega-cp /my_files/document.pdf /backups/archive In the ecosystem, megacmd provides a command mega-cp
💡 Always ensure that your destination parent directory exists by running the make directory command ( mega-mkdir ) first before sending your file over with mega-cp . ✨ Take Your Cloud Workflow to the Next Level If source/ and dest/ are on the modern
